In mathematics, a protorus is a compact connected topological abelian group. Equivalently, it is a projective limit of tori (products of a finite number of copies of the circle group), or the Pontryagin dual of a discrete torsion-free abelian group.

Some examples of protori are given by solenoid groups.

Cartesian product

In mathematics, specifically set theory, the Cartesian product of two sets A and B, denoted A × B, is the set of all ordered pairs where a is an element of A and b is an element of B. In terms of set-builder notation, that is A × B = { ( a , b ) ∣ a ∈ A and b ∈ B } . {\displaystyle A\times B=\{(a,b)\mid a\in A\ {\mbox{ and }}\ b\in B\}.} A table can be created by taking the Cartesian product of a set of rows and a set of columns.

Disk (mathematics)

In geometry, a disk is the region in a plane bounded by a circle. A disk is said to be closed if it contains the circle that constitutes its boundary, and open if it does not.
