Paika
Town in Kerala, India
Paika is a small town 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from Palai on the Pala-Ponkunnam road of Muvattupuzha - Punalur SH:08, in Kottayam district, Kerala, India. It is part of Meenachil Taluka, known as one of the most fertile agricultural regions of Travancore. This region is part of the mid-lands (adjacent to the high ranges) of south-eastern Kerala. The main income is from agriculture, mostly rubber plantations.
Main Eastern Highway (SH-08) Punalur - Muvattupuzha road which passes through is the major Sabarimala prilgrim route and second longest state highway of Kerala.
It's a part of Kottayam district and merjing area of Meenachil and Elikkulam Panchayath.
Elikkulam, Idamattom, Kochukottaram, Bharananganam are all near by areas.
Pala, Kanjirappally, Erattupetta,Ettumanoor Thodupuzha are the neighbouring towns.
Jubilee Feast of St. Mary's shrine conducted in the second week of December every year is the biggest festival of this area. Miles of colourful decorations, Long Processions, cultural festivals attracts lot's of people to this small town. Besides Paika Jubilee, Paika Pooram of Chamundasherry Temple and feast of neighbouring churches and temples unites people of this area.
