Left-Winger

He first appeared in Captain America #323 (Nov. 1986).

Hector Lennox is a U.S. Army veteran from Houston, Texas who became bored during peace-time service. He signs up for the Power Broker's strength augmentation process and joins the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation. Later, Lennox's army friend John Walker (Super-Patriot) approaches him to form a team of superhumans, the B.U.C.s (Bold Urban Commandos) or "Buckies". This group consists of Lennox, Lemar Hoskins, and Jerome Johnson.

The Super-Patriot publicly speaks out against the original Captain America. As a result, the Buckies stage opposition to him and pretended to attack him at a rally in Central Park as a publicity stunt. Walker defeats the protesters and proclaims to Captain America that the people should decide who was worthy of being Captain America. Eventually, the Commission on Superhuman Activities selects Walker to replace Steve Rogers as Captain America, and Lemar Hoskins to become his partner Bucky (later Battlestar).

Lennox and Johnson are left behind, feeling betrayed and angered. They take the names Left-Winger and Right-Winger respectively. The pair upstage Captain America at a patriotic rally and press conference, attacking him and revealing Walker's identity to the press out of jealousy over his newfound success. As a result, Walker's parents are killed by the Watchdogs, nearly driving Walker into a mental breakdown. He blames his former partners for his parents' deaths and stalks them. When he caught up to Left-Winger and Right-Winger, he tied them to an oil tank which was detonated by a torch-saber and left them to die. The two barely survive the explosion, leaving them badly burned and in critical condition.

Left-Winger and Right-Winger, alongside several others, are taken from different time periods by Immortus to serve in the third Legion of the Unliving. U.S. Agent kills them both, not believing them to be authentic.

Walker later learns that Left-Winger and Right-Winger survived the explosion and were hospitalized in Houston. After undergoing painful treatment for the burns they received, they committed suicide. When Walker learned of this, he was remorseful.

As a result of augmentation of his physical attributes by Dr. Karl Malus on behalf of the Power Broker, Left-Winger has superhuman strength, stamina, reflexes & reactions, and endurance.

Left-Winger carries a torch-sabre which would ignite at the touch of a button and projected a foot-long fiery "blade" as hot as a blowtorch. It can burn through 2-inch (51 mm) thick steel within seconds.

Left-Winger had moderate street-fighting experience, basic army training, and rigorous wrestling training.
