Denmark Open
Badminton tournament held in Denmark
The Denmark Open, or formerly known as Danish Open, is an annual badminton tournament held in Denmark and organized by Badminton Denmark. It was part of the BWF Super Series from 2011 to 2017. BWF categorised it as one of the five BWF World Tour Super 750 events per the BWF events structure since 2018.
01History
The tournament started in 1936 and is one of the world's oldest international badminton tournaments. It was interrupted by World War II and was not held from 1956 to 1965.
Denmark Open became part of the BWF Super Series in 2007 and was upgraded to Super Series Premier status in 2011. Following the introduction of the BWF World Tour in 2018, it was classified as a Super 750 tournament. The 2021 edition edition was temporarily upgraded to Super 1000 following revisions to the BWF tournament calendar. From 2027, the tournament is scheduled to be promoted from Super 750 to Super 1000.
02Locations
Eleven locations have been chosen to host the tournament. The 2007 and 2008 tournaments were held in Arena Fyn in Odense. Since 2008, the tournaments have been held in Odense.
